Temple View from Village Close up of a Village house.Kalpathy village is located in Palakkad in Kerala State in South India approximately 500 Kms South West of Chennai & 50 Kms South of Coimbatore. The Village has been declared a Heritage Site and no alterations on building structures are permitted by the State Government. You can reach Coimbatore by flight from Mumbai, Chennai,Kolkata or Cochin.

Like Pondy... In Pondy to in certain places no alterations are allowed in the heritage buildings built during French Rule... It's all in White and Green Combo...
I also was wondering about the chariot and want to hear more about it so will follow the link you gave...the village was very interesting and I love to read about other countries and how you live there. cheers.

I appreciate for the lovely comment you have written in Hindi.But there is a small mistake in one sentence.You have written as "Aapka lajawab nahi hai.It means I am not good.Correct sentence should be either "Aapka jawab nahin" or "Aap lajawab likhte hain".

great to see Kalpathy gramam on the blogosphere..Incidentally, the name, Kalpathy was derived from "Kal" (stone), "paathy" (veranda?) used in the agraharams for the purpose of putting 'kolams'. I believe the local government has now sanctioned funds for 'thittannis' stone-blocks for the same purpose in the Kalpathy and Tarakkad gramams..
