Recently we witnessed a Radha Kalyanam performance at Chennai. "Radha Kalyanam" represents a symbolic celestial wedding between Lord Krishna and Radha who is a representation of Love,Devotion Adoration & Surrender to the Supreme being.The dancer was experienced in this form of dance and had amazing flexibility,fluidity,charm and grace.He,as Radha, was a virtual maestro and his expressions reveal his complete devotion to Lord Krishna. Some of the pics during this enthralling performance are presented below.

ReplyDeleteOMG! This is new for me. The usual Radha Kalyanams I've attended has only idols and not people who portray themselves as Radha & Krishna. Where was this? Where in Chennai, coz I get a north-south mix feel in this...??!!!
ReplyDeleteI never heard about this. Yes ,in Karnataka there is form called Keertana Kathe , where KeertanaDaasaru narrate mythological stories, but there will be single performer.

@Bhusha: This was at a private family function at Mandaveli. The dancer is known to the family and is based in Hyderabad. Yes his dance style has a North Indian flavor:)

ReplyDeleteRe your comment on The Villages: There are thousands of golf carts of all configurations in The Villages. Some cost as much as $30,000!!
Most run on batteries. The older models are 36 volt but the newer ones are 48 volt. There are also gas models. You can drive on public streets within The Villages if your cart is "street legal," which means it can travel up to 35 miles per hour, has turn signals, lights, etc.

ReplyDeleteThe 'artiste' who played Radha is Sri JS Esvara Prasad, who is based in Hyderabad and is associated with Krishna gana/bhajan groups in Chennai/Tamilnadu.
ReplyDeleteHe & family are our family friends also. Some years ago, in a yajna performed by my father Sri Prasad presented a short performance spontaneously. It was about saint Ramadasu of Bhadrachalam (Andhra Pradesh.) Without any props whatsoever (as it was his spontaneous decision to present it), Sri Prasad manifested Sri Ramadasu then and there to the amazement of one and all.
He is a truly blessed soul.
