thanks for sharing these pics! interestingly, in Northern India, Lord Hanumana is called 'Balaji' unlike in Southern India where Lord Vishnu is.
ReplyDeleteOh ! I was unaware of that
DeleteSuch fascinating sculptures. The thing about stone as an art medium is, the artist has to be very careful and knowledgeable of the capacity of the stone to avoid breakage during the artistic process. Having really intricate designs on a stone sculpture is really something to gawk at.
ReplyDeleteI'm always interested to see your ancient sculptures and it's good to hear that these are protected in optimum museum conditions.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week Ram,

ReplyDeleteWell worth a visit!
ReplyDeleteThere's a gallery dedicated to the gods and goddesses of Hinduism? (I visited the post on goddesses too) That's so interesting. They obviously belong to another age. Are these unearthed /picked up from old temple premises? Nice to see these works of art being well -preserved for the future.
ReplyDeleteThese sculptures belong to the 9th-16th century.Mostly unearthed during excavations I am told.
DeleteThere are also galleries dedicated to Buddhist & Jain sculptures.
